FAQ:

Do I Need a Referral for Acupuncture Services?

No, a referral is not typically required for acupuncture services. However, we recommend consulting with your insurance provider if a referral is needed for coverage purposes.

Is Acupuncture covered under OHIP?

No, acupuncture at our clinic is not covered under OHIP. Any treatment that includes acupuncture may be covered by a private insurance or extended health benefits plan.

If your benefits include Acupuncture as a separate category, check with your insurance provider to see if care by a Registered Acupuncturist is covered, or alternatively if you have coverage for Naturopathic care.

What Can I Expect During My First Acupuncture Session?

Your first acupuncture session will begin with a comprehensive assessment where your acupuncturist will discuss your health history, current symptoms, and wellness goals. This is followed by the treatment itself, where fine needles are inserted into specific points on the body.

How Long is an Acupuncture treatment?

The first appointment with our acupuncturist is 75 minutes and involves a Traditional Chinese Medicine intake and assessment, plus a treatment.

Follow-up appointments are recommended to be 60 minutes in either private or community acupuncture settings.

Will I Need Multiple Acupuncture Sessions?

The number of sessions needed varies from person to person, depending on the condition being treated and your overall health goals. Some may experience relief after just a few treatments, while others may benefit from ongoing sessions. Your acupuncturist will work with you to create a tailored treatment plan.

Can Acupuncture Be Combined with Other Treatments?

Yes, acupuncture can be safely combined with other treatments. It is often used alongside conventional medicine and other naturopathic treatments to improve overall wellness.

What Other Services Are Provided under Acupuncture Sessions?

Beyond traditional acupuncture treatment, we provide cosmetic acupuncture, cupping therapy, and moxibustion. These therapeutics are offered based on your health needs and goals determined in your initial assessment.

What is Community Acupuncture?

Our clinic has a group treatment room. In the “community” setting, each patient has an individual chair and may be receiving treatments alongside other patients. Patients receive a simple assessment from their provider before receiving the treatment. These types of treatments are the perfect complement to ongoing acupuncture treatments. There are also therapeutic benefits documented for those receiving acupuncture community treatment settings. Please inquire to see if a community-style treatment could be suitable for your needs by your healthcare provider or meet our community acupuncture clinic lead, Dr. Tania Tabar, Naturopathic Doctor at this link here.
