What It’s Like Working With A Dietitian
Are you curious about what it’s like working with a Dietitian? Have you wondered about what to expect in your nutrition sessions?
In today’s blog post, I’ll be outlining what to expect working with me – Victoria the Registered Dietitian at Aurum Wellness.
What to Prepare for Your First Appointment with A Dietitian:
- Keep track of a written food journal – even just 3 consecutive days of eating can be helpful
- Keep track of bowel movement patterns – how often, texture, colour, consistency
- Recent bloodwork & medical history – bring your most recent bloodwork to your first visit, along with any past medical history, diagnoses, or deficiencies. This can be helpful for your Dietitian to suggest specific dietary and supplement protocols for you.
What Does the Overall Flow of Seeing Victoria Look Like?
- Free 15 Minute Consult (optional) – introduction to your nutrition concern/goal, opportunity to ask Victoria questions about approach, what to expect, & next steps for booking first official session discussed
- Initial 60 Minute Session – detailed review of main concern/goal setting, health history, medications, supplements, dietary and lifestyle habits, initial plan and suggestions made
- Follow up Sessions (30, 45 or 60 minutes each) – tailored to your concern/goals, education, resources, recipes, meal plans specific to your needs provided
It is important to note that the overall flow or frequency of sessions is highly dependent on the client’s individual needs. All client will need to have their Initial 60 Minute Session however, the frequency and duration of follow-up sessions vary. For example, in weight loss some client may prefer to come in more often for accountability purposes, between every 2-3 weeks. In other cases such as vitamin/nutrient deficiencies, the follow up visits can be spread out by 4-6 weeks, depending on the case.
What Can I Expect While Working with Victoria?
I believe that every client should be treated uniquely – according to their concerns, goals and personal history and background. This is why my education, protocols and curriculum are tailored to meet your needs specifically, meaning there are many approaches I will take depending on the case and your preference.
Here are Some Examples of What Happens in a Visit:
