Sophie Laycock, RD
Registered Dietitian at Aurum Medicine & Wellness Clinic

Sophie Laycock is a Registered Dietitian based out of Toronto, Ontario. Originally from Calgary, Sophie moved to Ontario at the beginning of her education in Nutrition and Dietetics at Western University/Brescia University College. She went on to do her Diploma in Dietetic Education & Practical Training in Hamilton, Ontario. Sophie is well versed in the complexities of nutritional care and has completed over 1400 hours in clinical inpatient & outpatient care, food service, research, and public health placements.

Sophie applies a psychosocial model to nutrition counselling by considering various factors of an individual’s life. Everyone’s unique experiences contribute to their relationship with food and the way that they eat. She takes an anti-diet and weight-inclusive approach to care and recognizes how diet culture affects our mental and physical health. She is an advocate for food freedom and believes that all foods can fit in a balanced diet without feelings of guilt or shame.

Sophie has experience supporting individuals with a broad range of diagnoses, including those living with type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, eating disorders, disordered eating, and metabolic syndrome. Sophie’s clinical experiences allow her to understand the value of human connection and how much she enjoys the journey of nutrition. She enjoys one-on-one counselling sessions because it allows her to build relationships with her clients and support them as they move towards their goals.

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys running, cooking, and spending time with family & friends.
