Hi, I’m Harjeet. Thank you for visiting my profile and exploring the possibility to have a conversation and connect. I believe everyone experiences times in their lives when extra support is needed. Support can show up in many different forms, and sometimes, it can show up as a space in which we share our life stories and bear witness with care, curiosity, non-judgment, humor, and respect. I recognize that the decision to seek support and see a psychotherapist is a significant one. We cannot underestimate the time and care that is needed to find someone we can click with and with whom we may experience a connection. So, here’s a little bit about me:
I’ve been working in the field of Social Work and psychotherapy for twenty years. I use a relational and collaborative approach that draws from many practice modalities, but in particular from Narrative therapy. As a psychotherapist, I’ve had the privilege to work with people from many walks of life, and with communities who are working through a broad range of concerns and social issues. Some examples include, grief and loss, depression, intimate partner violence, relationship issues, social injustice, and systemic oppression.
In my practice as a psychotherapist, I will work with you to witness and hold the space in which we may explore and co-create new stories that support your hopes, your dreams, and your goals. Change rarely occurs in one giant step. Sometimes, the desired shifts take place in every day moments, a change in perspective, a conversation, and practices that will hopefully draw us closer to the communities we love, where we feel less disconnected and in more alignment with our goals. I am committed to exploring what types of changes are meaningful to you. There is no one size fits all, hence I am dedicated to exploring what changes feel possible for you, within the context and social conditions of your life.
I am a racialized, cis-gendered woman. My life’s work has focused on examining stories of social justice, anti-racism, equity and anti-violence. I have experienced and witnessed how dominant systems in our world can invite us to experience doubt, fear, loneliness and hurt. And sometimes, social injustices and systemic oppression can impose identity conclusions that do not serve our lives and may leave us feeling isolated and disconnected. Barriers to achieving our dreams and goals can arise from systemic violence in our world such as racism, colonialism, cis-heteropatriarchy, homophobia, transphobia, and capitalism. I am dedicated to having these conversations in my therapeutic practice with communities from all walks of life.
I also believe we are creative, holistic beings, who may access many ways of knowing and relating to ourselves and others. Sometimes these can include art-based understandings, spiritual and non-spiritual practices, and many forms of creative expression. I am committed to conversations that support a holistic approach to exploring our lives.
